Biography
A native of Albuquerque, N.M., Nick Wechsler grew up not that far from the setting of Roswell, a show that marked his first starring role on a network series.
The fifth in a brood of eight sons, Wechsler, born Sept. 3, 1978, grew up in Albuquerque, where his parents and most of his siblings still live. His father is a sheet-metal worker; his mother is a secretary for the U.S. Forest Service. (He isn't related to Nick Wechsler, the producer of Quills, The Player and other feature films.) Wechsler began his acting career in high school, turning in what he modestly describes as "awe-inspiring performances" in school plays and at the local performing-arts center.
He moved to Hollywood immediately after graduating from high school in 1996 and soon landed a small role as a purse-stealing ruffian in the Danielle Steel telefilm Full Circle. Shortly thereafter he was cast as Trek, a child prodigy conceived at a Star Trek convention, in the syndicated series Team Knight Rider. He also has appeared in the series Silk Stalkings and Lazarus Man and in the direct-to-video family film Perfect Game. He also appeared in the film, Chicks, Man, which was released direct-to-video in Australia.
